Assistant Principal (Houston, TX)
Assist Principal to administer academic programs for students and personnel in a publicly funded charter school serving grades K through 8th. Oversee charter operations in principal's absence. Formulate student and personnel policies, such as codes of conduct. Assist in scheduling student activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments and extracurricular activity schedules. Give individual and group guidance to students in academic challenges, for the fulfillment of educational/vocational objectives, and in social and recreational activities. Supervise students in attendance at assemblies and athletic events. Monitor safety† and security throughout the school. Coordinate teacher supervision of halls. Help principal design, manage and implement information systems to manage and track progress on charter goals and academic excellence indicators. Oversee the maintenance of records of student attendance, standardized test reports, personnel reports, and audit. Observe and evaluate teacher performance. Assist the Principal to interview and hire teachers; and organize in‐service teacher training. Make recommendations to principal for improving academic performance.
Masterís degree or foreign equivalent in Education plus three years of experience. Experience to include 12 months experience as a Principal or an Assistant Principal at the elementary, middle or high school level and 18 months experience as a teacher at the elementary, middle or high school level. Alternatively, we will accept a Bachelorís degree in any field plus five years of post‐baccalaureate, progressively responsible experience in education. Experience to include 12 months as a Principal or an Assistant Principal at the elementary, middle or high school level and 18 months as a teacher at the elementary, middle or high school level. The teaching experience must be full‐time as the teacher of record (not substitute) at general education setting (not special population).
